Atlanta Thrashers vs. New Jersey Devils: Langenbrunner Goal Extends Devils Lead, 2-0, After Two Periods

The New Jersey Devils lead the Atlanta Thrashers, 2-0, after two periods of their game tonight at the Prudential Center.

The Devils held the advantage in shots that period, 13-9. The Devils lead in shots, 21-16.

Jamie Langenbrunner extended the Devils lead to 2-0 at 1:01 of the period. Jason Arnott caused a turnover behind the Atlanta net and sent a pass to the low slot. Langenbrunner one-timed the puck off the stick of Anthony Stewart and into the back of the net.

It was Langenbrunner's fourth goal of the year and first since November 10.

Tonight's game marks the first time in seven games the Devils have scored more than one goal in a game.

Mark Fayne and Chris Thorburn dropped the gloves with 4:59 left in the period. Thorburn easily won the fight.
