Devils End Losing Skid on Elias' Winner

Anaheim, CA (Sports Network) - Patrik Elias netted the game-winner in the third period, as the New Jersey Devils edged the Anaheim Ducks, 2-1, at Honda Center.

Jamie Langenbrunner had the other goal for New Jersey, and Martin Brodeur made 27 saves for his first win of the season not by way of a shutout. The Devils snapped a three-game skid while improving to 1-2-0 on their six-game trek.

"It's a huge win for us. Hopefully it will get us on the right track," the Devils' Jason Arnott said. "Everybody contributed in one way or another."

Jason Blake scored a power-play goal for the Ducks, who received 25 saves from Jonas Hiller.

The Devils took a 2-1 lead when rookie Alexander Vasyunov fed Elias for a one- timer in the slot at the 1:54 mark of the third period. The assist was the first NHL point for the young Russian forward.

Anaheim pulled Hiller in the late stages of the contest, but couldn't produce the equalizer.

"Every time you think we're going to get it going, we play a game like tonight and lose again," Hiller said.

Following a scoreless opening 20 minutes, Blake put Anaheim on the board at 8:07 of the second period. Langenbrunner beat Hiller on a wraparound to tie the game at 10:39 of the middle stanza.
