SB Nation's Bill Connelly has released his latest bowl projections, and for the New York local teams, not much has changed. The Rutgers Scarlet Knights beat Army at Yankee Stadium on Saturday and are again penciled in for a return visit at the New Era Pinstripe Bowl, where Connelly predicts they will take on Texas Tech.

Syracuse fell to South Florida on Friday, and Connelly doesn't think the Orange will get the win they need to become eligible in its final two games of the season against Cincinnati or Pittsburgh.

Connelly projects Cincinnati to ultimately claim the Big East crown and meet Clemson in the Discover Orange Bowl. He also sees Louisville, South Florida and Pittsburgh making it to the postseason. Louisville is forecasted to play N.C. State in the BBVA Compass Bowl, South Florida to go to the Independence Bowl to take on Wyoming and Pittsburgh to meet East Carolina in the Beef O'Brady's Bowl.

Connelly's BCS picks are as follows:

BCS National Championship Game (1/9/2012): LSU vs. Oklahoma State

Rose Bowl (1/2/2012): Oregon vs. Wisconsin

Tostitos Fiesta Bowl (1/2/2012): Oklahoma vs. Houston

Allstate Sugar Bowl (1/3/2012): Alabama vs. Stanford

Discover Orange Bowl (1/4/2012): Clemson vs. Cincinnati

The New York Islanders take on the Vancouver Canucks tonight having lost eight of their past nine games. The Islanders are still hoping to pick up their first road win of the season.

The New York Islanders will look to reverse their downward spiral and pick up their first road win Sunday night when they head to Vancouver to take on a Canucks team starting to show signs of life after a disappointing beginning to the season.

The Islanders have lost eight of their past nine games, with Thursday's defeat at Colorado being particularly excruciating. New York hopped out to a 3-0 lead midway through the second period, but the team's defense allowed 51 shots as the Avalanche came back to send the game into overtime, where Islanders goalie Al Montoya's high-sticking penalty led to the game-winning, power-play goal.

The Canucks have had something of an up-and-down campaign after their trip to the Stanley Cup finals this past spring, having yet to win or lose more than two games in a row. Vancouver won the first two games of their three-game road trip before falling to Anaheim, 4-3, Friday night, despite a furious third-period comeback.

The Islanders are expected to have Evgeni Nabokov between the pipes tonight, with the goaltender facing the tough task of putting the clamps on the dangerous Sedin brothers, who combined for 12 points over the Canucks' aforementioned three-game road trip. The Isles will also hope for another strong performance from sensational sophomore Michael Grabner. The Gremlin has scored in each of New York's past two games.

It was from easy, but the Seton Hall men's basketball team escaped its season opener with a 75-71 overtime win over St. Francis (NY) at the Prudential Center on Saturday. The Pirates were in serious danger of losing the game in regulation, trailing the Terriers by two points with four seconds remaining.

Out of a time out, senior guard Jordan Theodore then made a leaner to cap a 6-0 Pirates run and send the game into overtime with 1.1 seconds left on the clock. The bucket accounted for two of Theodore's game-high 25 points and helped salvage a game in which Seton Hall trailed most of the way. He then converted a three-point play to start the overtime period and put the Pirates ahead for good.

Seton Hall's freshman struggled in the opener, but senior forward Herb Pope helped the cause with an impressive 21-point, 14-rebound performance. Swingman Travis Nichols set the pace for the Terriers, scoring 25 points and grabbing 14 rebounds of his own.

New York Jets head coach Rex Ryan spoke with the media Friday prior to the big game against the New England Patriots. In contrast to the team's usually bombastic style, the Jets have kept the bulletin-board material to a minimum leading into the critical AFC East clash, something Ryan credits to the fact that everyone inside the locker room already knows how important the game is.

"We're relaxed, focused, loose, but we know what's at stake," Ryan said. "We know how big this game is and we're excited about it. We're ready for it, and we know they're going to be ready for it. So, it ought to be a great game. It's almost like Ali-Frazier, it's one of those type of things. We're excited that it's in our building. We're not banking on that being the difference, but it might very well be the difference."

As for his gameplan, Ryan said he will look to continue a recent trend of opposing teams disrupting Patriots quarterback Tom Brady by penetrating the line to generate pressure on the quarterback. Though Ryan said he didn't take credit for other teams adopting this strategy from the Jets, he did say getting pressure on Brady was necessary if a team is going to beat the Patriots.

"We don't take credit for someone else's success, that's for sure," Ryan said. "If we steal something from somebody, we'll make sure that we give them credit. That's probably the difference (joking). Yes, you want to hit Brady, there is no question. You want to (hit him) to where he is not feeling comfortable. That, you have to do. If you can't get pressure on Brady, then you're going to get destroyed, so we have to find ways of getting there whether it's through a four-man rush, like the Giants used a bunch, whether it's something creative or whatever, I don't know, but you have to get pressure on Brady."

On offense, Ryan said the Jets will not be altering their gameplan to exploit what some consider to be a shaky New England secondary.

"It's funny, because the season is only half over, so sometimes those stats will even out as the year goes on, but the fact they've had, what, three out of their eight (defensive backs) never even went to training camp," Ryan said. "That's probably tough sledding if you've got to play those guys. Eventually, though, once they play, eventually they'll catch up to the system and all that. But, we're just going to play our game and mix run and pass and see what happens."
