The Brooklyn Nets are more likely to win the NBA championship than the New York Knicks, according to the Vegas odds. The Nets currently sit at 30/1 to win the championship, while the Knicks are at 35/1. Similarly the Nets are deemed more likely to win the Eastern Conference, at 12/1 than the Knicks, who were initially placed at 14/1.

The Nets finished the 2011-12 season – their last in New Jersey – with a 22-44 record, but made significant moves during the offseason. The team shifted their home base to Brooklyn, re-signed point guard Deron Williams, added Joe Johnson and Gerald Wallace, and hope to get Brook Lopez back healthy after missing most of last season.

The Knicks grabbed the seventh seed in the Eastern Conference playoffs in 2012 with a 36-30 record after an up-and-down season. They returned stars Carmelo Anthony, Amar'e Stoudemire, and Tyson Chandler as well as added point guards Jason Kidd and Raymond Felton, but chose not to retain breakout sensation Jeremy Lin.

The Knicks and Nets start the season against one another in Brooklyn on Nov. 1.
