At the 2013 Westminster Dog Show on Tuesday night in Madison Square Garden, an Affenpinscher by the name of Banana Joe won Best In Show honors.
Following a victory in the Toy Group on Monday night, Banana Joe was named the show's champion dog, making his triumphant hop into the winner's circle after the announcement.
The Affenpinscher's handler, Ernesto Lara, said later that Banana Joe will probably retire to the Netherlands after his Best In Show conquest, going out on top the way all competitors dream of doing. This was not before Lara and Banana Joe celebrated a possibly-choreographed victory dance.
The Reserve Best In Show award went to the puffy Old English Sheepdog, Swagger, who seemed to have the support of the Madison Square Garden crowd as the finalist dogs made their last lap around the ring, but it wasn't to be for Swagger.
In general, Affenpinschers are feisty and fun, according to Westminster's web site, with amounts of energy that one wouldn't assume could fit into their tiny bodies. They rock pretty neat mustaches though, and now, thanks to Banana Joe, they're champions.
