The New York Jets enter the 2013 NFL Draft bereft of talent on the offensive side, but some people believe they could address the defense with the ninth pick.

Sb Nation's Dan Kadar and Matthew Fairburn released a joint mock draft on Monday. In it, they have the Jets selecting LSU defensive end Barkevious Mingo in the first round:
The Jets' defense lacks a playmaker that can get after the quarterback. Rex Ryan is as creative as they come defensively, but he needs some new toys to play with. Just think about what Ryan could do with a talent like Barkevious Mingo. Many will look at the stat sheet and say Mingo had a down year, but he wasn't used enough in space and actually put tons of pressure on the quarterback this season. He belongs in the top 10.
New GM John Idzik has an unenviable task this offseason -- between trying to sort out the team's cap mess, restocking the roster with real talent and possibly being stuck with Mark Sanchez, he will have his hands full. Mingo isn't the sexy new quarterback that fans are clamoring for, but it's a nice start for the new regime.
