Despite Carmelo Anthony's 24 points and the return of Amar'e Stoudemire, the New York Knicks are down at halftime at Madison Square Garden on Tuesday night against the Portland Trail Blazers.
The Knicks are aiming to start the new year with a victory at home to rebound from a tough loss against the Sacromento Kings at the buzzer last Friday. The Knicks, who have lost just twice at home this season, have been unable to quiet the Trail Blazers' offense, led by center J.J. Hickson's 18 points.
Blazers point guard Damian Lillard, who has already played 20 minutes, has 12 points and five assists.
Anthony has accounted for most of the Knicks offense thus far, as only J.R. Smith has more than five points for the Knicks on the night. In 10 minutes, Stoudemire is zero for five from the field and has yet to record a point, rebound or assist. He does have one block recorded.
