The New York Mets face the Atlanta Braves on Sunday afternoon in what will be the final game for future hall-of-famer Chipper Jones in Queens. The Braves are trying to extend Jones' career into the playoffs, as they currently lead the National League Wild Card race.
The Mets will send Chris Young to the mound to try and play spoiler. Young is 4-7 with a 4.48 ERA in 16 starts this season. He went five innings, giving up just one run, in his last outing against Miami. Young faced Atlanta on July 13, giving up five runs in three innings while taking the loss.
Tommy Hanson gets the call for the Braves. The right-hander is 12-8 with a 4.40 ERA on the year. He racked up a high pitch count in just 5.2 innings during his last start against Colorado. In that appearance, he gave up two runs while striking out eight. Hanson struggled against the Mets on July 14, allowing six runs in just 5.1 innings pitched.
The Mets are all but out of the playoff race at this point, as they are nine games out of the final Wild Card spot.
