2012 U.S. Open Tennis Schedule And TV Coverage: Women's Semifinals, Featuring Williams and Sharapova, Get Underway

The 2012 U.S. Open women's singles semifinals, featuring Serena Williams and Maria Sharapova vying for spots in the final, are set to get underway on Friday afternoon.

No. 3 Sharapova takes the court first at Arthur Ashe Stadium against top-ranked Victoria Azarenka. The match is set to begin following the completion of the Men's Doubles Final between the team of Leander Paes and Radek Stepanek and Americans Bob and Mike Bryan, which will begin at 12:30 p.m. ET on CBS.

Sharapova defeated Marion Bartoli of France in three sets in the quarters while No. 1 Azarenka, from Belarus, topped Samantha Stosur in three sets in her quarterfinal match.

After Sharapova and Azarenka's match is finished, No. 4 Serena Williams will square off against No. 10 Sara Errani, who defeated fellow Italian Roberta Vinci in the quarterfinals, in a match that won't begin before 3:45 p.m. ET on CBS.

Williams handily defeated Ana Ivanovic in straight sets in the quarterfinals, 6-1, 6-3.
