Sione Pouha Injury: Jets' Nose Tackle May Miss Opener

The Jets' defense may be without its starting nose tackle when it begins the season this weekend. Sione Pouha has been battling a lower back injury and Rex Ryan said Monday that he was "not real sure" whether the defensive lineman would be active for the upcoming regular season opener.

The Jets kick off the new season on Sunday at MetLife Stadium against the Buffalo Bills. The game is scheduled to begins at 1 p.m. ET.

If Pouha can't go against the Bills, Kenrick Ellis is likely to be the replacement as he has been in preseason action.

Pouha has been a force front and center for the Jets defense at the nose tackle position since being selected by the franchise in the third round of the 2005 draft. In 2011, Pouha made 58 tackles and one sack as well as forcing one fumble and recovering two others.
