Sports On TV, 09/27: Mets close out home schedule, Yanks look to extend division lead

Both New York baseball teams are in action today, let's look at each game:

↵

New York Mets: vs. Pittsburgh Pirates, 1:10 p.m., SNY. The Mets play their last home game in a disappointing year, as Thursday's matinee signifies getaway day before the team heads to Atlanta and Miami to finish up the season. R.A. Dickey will try for his 20th win on the year -- his 19-6 record is pretty remarkable considering the team is 71-84. He'll face off against Pittsburgh's Kevin Correia. Wednesday night's win officially knocked the Pirates out of playoff contention, so neither team has anything to play for.

New York Yankees: at Toronto Blue Jays, 7:07 p.m., YES. As hard as they try, the Yankees just can't get separation from the Baltimore Orioles who seem to win every time the Yankees win and lose every time they lose. Tonight, the Yankees begin a four-game set against Toronto while the Orioles enjoy a day off, meaning that the Yankees will either lead by two games or fall back to just one. Ivan Nova toes the rubber for New York, having pitched one of his best outings of the year his last time in Toronto: 7â…“ innings, 10 strikeouts, two earned runs. He faces off against Brandon Morrow.
