The New York Yankees send CC Sabathia to the mound looking to rebound from a tough loss to the Minnesota Twins on Wednesday afternoon in the rubber game between the Twins and Yankees from Target Field on Wednesday.
The Twins batted around in the seventh inning against Yankees pitching on their way to a 5-4 victory Tuesday night. Minnesota counters with Samuel Deduno, who looks to keep the Yankees' offense quiet in the afternoon showdown.
With just eight games remaining in the season, the Yankees are 1½ games up on the Baltimore Orioles in the American League East race, and hold a magic number of seven. Any combination of seven Yankee wins or Oriole losses would give the Yankees the newly more important division title.
The Yankees saw their lead on the Tampa Bay Rays shrink to five games after the Rays topped the Boston Red Sox on Tuesday.
