The New York Jets announced a pair of roster moves on Tuesday. The Jets added Jonathan Grimes, a running back who was on the Houston Texans' practice squad, to the 53-man roster. They also added cornerback Donnie Fletcher to the practice squad.
Grimes, from William & Mary, was signed by the Texans as an undrafted free agent and waived at the end of the preseason. The 5-foot-10, 209-pound back is William & Mary's all-time leader in rushing yards (4,541), all-purpose yards (7,955), kickoff return yards (2,289) and rushing attempts (936) and earned 11 all-conference honors, the most in Colonial Athletic Association history.
Fletcher was signed during the offseason by the Jets as an undrafted free agent. He was on the practice squad to begin the season, was signed to the 53-man roster on Sept. 22, and waived Sept. 24. In four seasons at Boston College, Fletcher started 30-of-51 games and collected 178 tackles and 11 interceptions.
