The New York Giants have climbed in several power rankings polls thanks to Thursday night's dominating 36-7 victory over the Carolina Panthers. SB Nation and NFL.com both have the defending champions ranked at No. 5, which moves the team up four spots from last week. ESPN's poll moved the club up two spots and has them just out of the top-five.
According to SB Nation's Joel Thorman, the victory against Carolina reinforced the Giants' top-10 ranking from the previous week.
Too high? That was the battle cry from commenters last week. That drubbing of the Panthers solidifies their spot in the top five.
ESPN echoed the sentiment but questioned whether the team could duplicate the performance this Sunday in the prime time game against the Philadelphia Eagles at Lincoln Financial Field.
