New York Yankees outfielder Ichiro Suzuki won AL Player of the Week Monday after producing huge offensive numbers during the Yankees' latest home stand.

Ichiro was 15-for-25 with three doubles, two home runs, five RBIs, seven runs scored and six stolen bases in New York's six games. In Wednesday's doubleheader sweep of the Toronto Blue Jays, Ichiro was 7-for-8 and added four stolen bases in the night cap.

Throughout Ichiro's Player of the Week campaign, the New York Yankees went 5-1 to keep a½-game lead in the AL East over the Baltimore Orioles. Ichiro's effort was necessary as almost every Yankees victory was a tight game -- three were one-run victories and one was a two-run victory.

Ichiro has now batted .331 with 21 runs and 23 RBIs since being acquired from the Seattle Mariners on July 23. He has also added five home runs and 12 stolen bases.
