NCAA College Football Rankings Preview: Will Rutgers Crack Top 25?

The question was asked a week ago: Will Rutgers crack the Top 25? It was asked after Rutgers bested South Florida on Sept. 13, and it's being asked now that they've improved to 4-0 on the season with a 35-26 victory over Arkansas on Saturday. They received 19 votes in the AP rankings a week ago, but weren't able to crack the Top 25.

Louisville is the only Big East team in the Top 25 at this point, and they checked in at No. 20 last week. They're also 4-0 on the season, but do have some tougher wins than Rutgers at this point. Neither team has taken on a ranked opponent though, and Rutgers won't until the last game of the season in November, and there's no guarantee that Louisville will still be ranked at that time.

Still, if Rutgers doesn't crack the Top 25 this week, there's some slightly tougher matchups on the horizon, such as games against Syracuse and Connecticut over the next two weeks. Wins in those games could give them the record they need to make it into the rankings.
