Giants' Kenny Phillips Fined $30,000 For Hit Against Bucs

New York Giants strong safety Kenny Phillips has been fined $30,000 for a hit on Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiverVincent Jackson in Sunday's game between the two teams, according to Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times. The contact by Phillips was deemed to have been on a defenseless receiver in the head and neck area.

Phillips wasn't the only Giants player to be fined for their actions against the Buccaneers. Two players were fined for coming to the defense of Eli Manning after the Buccaneers jumped through the line and made contact with the quarterback on a kneel down play. David Baas and Kevin Boothe were fined $7,875 each for their actions at the end of the game.

That totals $45,750 in fines for the Giants in their win over the Bucs. The game was hotly contested, with the Giants scoring 25 points in the fourth quarter to prevail, 41-34.
