Tom Coughlin Post-Game: Giants Grab An Opportunity

Heading into Thursday night's game against the Carolina Panthers most prognosticators looked at the game and saw the New York Giants as a team at a severe disadvantage. They were the road team playing on a short week. They had played an emotional game four days earlier. They were missing three starters and four key offensive players. They were facing a difficult to prepare for Carolina offense.

Where others saw trouble, though, Giants coach Tom Coughlin saw opportunity. One that the Giants grabbed lustily, routing the Panthers, 36-7.

"We had spent a lot of time talking about the mental part of the game the week before and then this week it carried over for us," Coughlin said during his post-game press conference. "We looked at this as a very positive experience, coming in and playing on a Thursday night. Talked about coming in and being able to post that second win and then watch some football over the weekend."

The Giants next game will be Sept. 30 on the road against the NFC East rival Philadelphia Eagles.
