Behind what could be a career performance from running back Andre Brown and a sharp Eli Manning, the New York Giants have taken a 20-0 halftime lead over the Carolina Panthers at Bank of America Stadium. The Giants (1-1) scored on each of their first four offensive possessions of the first half, as Brown rushed for a touchdown, Manning threw for another and kicker Lawrence Tynes nailed field goals of 47 and 49 yards.
Brown has already rushed for 96 yards on 13 carries, while Manning is 18-for-23 for 169 passing yards. Brown's lone score polished off a nine-play, 72-yard drive that with 12 minutes, 8 seconds to go in the first half and helped New York earn a 17-0 lead. Tynes capped the Giants' scoring with 3:17 to go.
The Panthers (1-1) have marched into Giants territory three times, but two drives stalled around the 40-yard line while the last one ended on an interception by New York defensive back Jayron Hosley, who picked off Carolina quarterback Cam Newton.
