Giants-Panthers Score Update: New York Leads Carolina, 10-0, After 1st Quarter

A 14-yard touchdown reception by tight end Martellus Bennett and a 47-yard field go by Lawrence Tynes has helped the New York Giants take a 10-0 lead over the Carolina Panthers in a Week 3 NFL contest that has reached the conclusion of the first quarter. Bennett's touchdown came on the Giants first possession of the game, while Tynes' successful kick concluded New York's second drive of the quarter.

New York's first scoring drive used eight plays to march 80 yards and was highlighted by a 31-yard rushing from running back Andre Brown, who raced down to the Carolina 22-yard line. Two plays later Eli Manning found Bennett for his third touchdown reception of the season.

After the Giants' defense halted a small Panthers drive that moved down to the New York 44-yard line, Manning helped the offense move down to the Carolina 29-yard line. New York failed to convert on a 3rd-and-8 situation, as Manning and wide receiver Victor Cruz couldn't connect on a pass. which led to Tynes tacking on three points.

So far, running back Andre Brown has been the game's top player as he has already rushed for 77 yards on seven carries, while Manning is 10-for-12 for 81 yards and one touchdown.

The Giants will begin the second quarter with the ball inside Panthers' territory.
