New York Giants Roster Moves: Mitch Petrus Re-Signs

Mitch Petrus was gone for about a day, but after offensive tackle D.J. Jones failed his physical with the team, Petrus is back on the New York Giants roster after the team re-signed him Sunday.

Petrus, who the Giants drafted in the fifth round in 2010 out of Arkansas, has played in 17 games and started three for New York over the past two seasons, but was released Saturday in favor of Jones. Jones spent his rookie season in 2011 on practice-squad rosters with the Dolphins and Ravens, but New York claimed him after Philadelphia waived him on Friday. It's not known what caused Jones to fail his physical, but regardless, something drew a red flag and he will not be on the Giants' roster this year.

Petrus will serve as the primary backup for both Kevin Boothe and Chris Snee on the offensive line.
