2012 U.S. Open Tennis Scores: Andy Roddick Advances To Fourth Round With Win Over Fabio Fognini

Andy Roddick's retirement will have to wait at least another match, as the American advanced to the fourth round at the 2012 U.S. Open with a 7-5, 7-6 (7-1), 4-6, 6-4 win over Fabio Fognini on Sunday at Arthur Ashe Stadium.

Unforced errors were the undoing of Fognini, especially late in the match when it appeared the Italian had an exhausted Roddick on the ropes. Fognini finished with 36 unforced errors on the day, with Roddick totaling 30 unforced errors himself, but only three in the fourth set.

Roddick, the 2003 U.S. Open champion, will now face Juan Martin del Potro in the quarterfinals. Del Potro captured the U.S. Open title in 2009.
