Yankees Vs. Orioles Final Score: New York Falls 8-3 In Rubber Game Of Weekend Series

The New York Yankees were defeated by the Baltimore Orioles, 8-3 on Sunday at Yankee Stadium. The Yankees dropped two out of three games in the three-game set. The Orioles are now within two games of the Yankees in the American League East standings.

The Yankees had a lead in this game until the sixth inning, but could not hold it. Chris Dickerson hit a two-run home run in the second inning to put the Yankees on the board first. After a solo homer by Mark Reynolds for the Orioles in the top of the fifth inning, Nick Swisher had an RBI single in the bottom of the fifth inning. The Yankees' lead slipped away in the sixth inning when the Orioles got four runs. Baltimore added three more insurance runs in the eighth inning.

Phil Hughes got the start for the Yankees and went five innings, giving up eight hits and five earned runs while striking out six batters in the loss. Chris Tillman got the start for the Orioles but only went three innings before leaving with an elbow injury, Tillman gave up two hits and two earned runs. Randy Wolf replaced Tillman and went 3 1/3 innings in the win. Wolf gave up three hits and one earned run.

The Yankees (76-57) will begin their next series on Monday against the Tampa Bay Rays (73-61) at Tropicana Field.
