The first week of the Heisman Trophy race is in the books, and there were many great performances that gave players a leg up on the nation's best player award that will be handed out in December at the Best Buy Theater in Times Square.
Below is the stats of the top 15 players listed in the initial SB Nation New York Heisman Trophy rankings, and a few other honorable mentions that may get others into the race.
Top 15 (in order)
Matt Barkley, USC Trojans, QB: 23-of-28 for 377 passing yards with four touchdowns vs. Hawaii Warriors. Team earned 49-10 victory.
Denard Robinson, Michigan Wolverines, QB: 11-of-26 for 200 passing yards with a TD and two interceptions vs. Alabama Crimson Tide. Team lost 41-14.
Robert Woods, USC, WR: six receptions for 42 receiving yards and two TDs.
Montee Ball, Wisconson Badgers, RB: 120 rushing yards on 32 carries and one TD in a 26-21 victory over Northern Iowa.
Landry Jones, Oklahoma Sooners, QB: 21-of-36 for 222 passing yards with two TDs in a 24-7 win over UTEP.
Marcus Lattimore, South Carolina Gamecocks, RB: 110 rushing yards on 23 carries with two TDs in a 17-13 victory over Vanderbilt.
De'Anthony Thomas, Oregon, RB: 64 rushing yards on three three carries and 55 receiver yards on four catches in a 34-27 victory over Arkansas State.
Tajh Boyd, Clemeson Tigers, QB: 24-of-35 for 208 passing yards with one INT and TD , and 58 rushing yards on 19 attempts in a 26-19 victory over Auburn.
Aaron Murray, Georgia Bulldogs, QB: 15-of-26 for 258 yards with three TDs in a 45-23 victory over Buffalo.
E.J. Manuel, Florida St. Seminoles, QB: 16-of-22 for 188 yards with one TD and INT, and 38 rushing yards on five attempts in 69-3 victory over Murray State.
Knile Davis, Arkansas Razorbacks, RB: 70 rushing yards on 18 attempts, one reception for 19 receiving yards in a 49-24 victory over Jacksonville State.
Geno Smith, West Virginia, QB: 32-of-36 for 323 passing yards and four TDs, and 65 rushing yards on eight carries and a TD in a 69-34 victory over Marshall.
Le'Veon Bell, Michigan St. Spartans, RB: 210 rushing yards on 44 carries and two TDs, and 55 receiving yards on six catches in a 17-13 victory over Boise State.
Tyler Bray, Tennessee Volunteers, QB: 27-of-41 for 333 passing yards with two TDs and an INT in 35-21 victory over North Carolina State.
Tavon Austin, WVU, WR: 53 receiving yards on 10 catches and one TD, and 66 rushing yards on three attempts in 69-34 victory over Marshall.
Honorable mention
Taylor Martinez, Nebraska Cornhuskers, QB: 26-of-34 for 354 passing yards and five TDs in 49-20 victory over Southern Miss.
Stefphon Jefferson, Nevada Wolf Pack, RB: 145 rushing yards on 34 attempts and three TDs.
Braxton Miller, Ohio St. Buckeyes, QB: 12-of-24 for 207 passing yards and two TDs, and 161 rushing yards for 17 carries and a TD in a 56-10 victory over Miami (OH).
Ryan Nassib, Syracuse Orange, QB: 44-of-65 for 470 passing yards with four TDs and one INT, and 30 rushing yards on 12 carries in a 42-41 loss to Northwestern.
Venric Mark, Northwestern Wildcats, RB: 281 total yards, including 84 rushing yards on 14 carries, a 82-yard punt return for a TD and a 16-yard TD reception.
