Hakeem Nicks Injury: Giants WR Out Vs. Panthers

Giants wide receiver Hakeem Nicks has been ruled out for New York's Thursday night game in Charlotte against the Panthers. The Giants announced that Nicks did not make the trip for the Week 3 matchup against Carolina. On Wednesday's injury report, he was listed as questionable and did not practice, citing a foot injury. Nicks had surgery at the end of May to repair a broken right metatarsal.

Nicks is coming off a monster 10-catch, 199-yard performance against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. His Week 2 numbers were good enough to earn him the NFC's Offensive Player of the Week. With the Giants passing game firing on all cylinders, the injury certainly comes as a blow to the offense.

The short week likely forced the Giants to be overcautious as the veteran wideout works his way back from a broken foot. He'll now have extended rest before New York plays a Week 4 Sunday night game on the road against the Eagles.
