Syracuse Vs. Stony Brook Pregame Notes: Can Orange Offense Keep Peddle Down?

Good afternoon all! I am ready to go here at the Carrier Dome where in about 20 minutes the Syracuse Orange will host the Stony Brook Seawolves in a non-conference showdown (4 p.m. on SNY). This will be the first ever match-up between these two New York programs that play in different levels of Division I football -- Syracuse (0-2) plays at the Football Bowl Subdivision level, while Stony Brook (2-0) is ranked No. 17 in the Football Championship Subdivision.

All-time, the Orange are a perfect 9-0 against FCS opponents, while the Seawolves are 0-3 versus FBS foes.

Syracuse enters the game with a few lofty goals, the first, claiming its first victory of the 2012-13 season; the second will be trying to maintain its offensive momentum that has helped the Orange earn the top scoring offense in the Big East Conference (525.5 yards per game).

Most of SU's offensive success has been led by the arm of senior quarterback Ryan Nassib, who's ranked second in the nation in passing yards (804) and total offense per game (418.0). Nassib will try to find senior wide receivers Marcus Sales, the team leaders with 20 catches and three touchdowns, and Alec Lemon, who will enter the game needing just six catches to become SU's all-time leader in catches -- an impressive mark considering the program has had guy like Art Monk, Marvin Harrison and Rob Moore play for it.
