New York Jets cornerback Darrelle Revis suffered a mild concussion in a Week 1 win over the Buffalo Bills. Revis was accidentally kicked in the head during the Jets' 20-point win over their division rival, and initial reports indicated that he did not suffer a concussion. But head coach Rex Ryan confirmed that his star cornerback did suffer what he called a mild concussion:
I just watch the tests. I understand it's a mild concussion. He seems to be feeling good. Whatever those scores are, apparently that's low, but again, I'll lean on the doctors and trainers, and we'll see how he progresses during the week.
Ryan confirmed that Revis is not required to sit out the Jets' Week 2 matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers, but said he'll continue to follow doctors' orders as the week moves along. The Jets' head coach reiterated that he would err on the side of caution.
