The New York Jets have reached their 53-man roster, cutting seven players right before the 9 p.m. ET deadline Friday night, and there were no surprises à la Chris Cooley down in Washington, D.C. You can find the list of complete moves at Jets blog Gang Green Nation, but one thing of note is the fact that they let go all of their late-round picks, including running back Terrence Ganaway, scorer of the Jets' lone preseason touchdown, who is reportedly off to join the Rams.
With Ganaway, tackle Robert T. Griffin and wide receiver Jordan White, none of the Jets' draft picks after the fifth round are on the 53. In addition, the Jets released quarterback Matt Simms, who played well but couldn't beat out Greg McElroy for the third QB job. Here's what GGN's David Wyatt had to say about the decisions.
I was actually a little disappointed to see Donnie Fletcher get cut, I thought he had a better pre-season than [cornerback Isaiah] Trufant. Jordan White was a little inconsistent through camp but then again at least he played unlike Chaz [Schilens]. [Linebacker Marcus] Dowtin has some talent and I still find it such a shame that Ricky Sapp can't seem to stay healthy.
