Giants Roster 2012: Big Blue View Examines 53-Man Roster

The New York Giants roster has been set...for now. Tom Coughlin and the Giants made their final roster cuts, trimming the roster down to 53. Ryan Perrilloux and D.J. Ware were just two of the many cuts made by the Giants brass.

As always, the folks over at Big Blue View posted some reaction to the cuts:

RB (4): Ahmad Bradshaw, David Wilson, Da'Rel Scott, Andre Brown

When camp started I thought D.J. Ware might be in trouble. Andre Brown and Da'Rel Scott just performed too well, and it seems the Giants decided they had already seen the best of what Ware could give.

The strong play of David Wilson in the preseason likely sealed Ware's fate.

Elsewhere on the offensive front, a young wide receiver didn't make the cut:

WR (6): Hakeem Nicks, Victor Cruz, Domenik Hixon, Ramses Barden, Rueben Randle, Jerrell Jernigan

The Giants decided to part ways with impressive undrafted free agent David Douglas. I really should have seen that coming. The Giants don't part with draft picks (Barden, Jernigan) lightly, and coach Tom Coughlin loves Hixon. The Giants would seemingly like to get Douglas to the practice squad, but indications are that is not likely to happen. There appears to be a good amount of interest in Douglas from other NFL teams.

With plenty of teams searching for young wide receivers, it seems likely that Douglas will end up on another roster by the beginning of next week.

Be sure to check out the entire roster breakdown over at Big Blue View.
