The Jets have restructured left guard Matt Slauson's contract, according to Jenny Vrentas of the Star-Ledger. This is a peculiar time for a renegotiated deal, but with Slauson competing for the starting position with 2010 second round pick. Vlad Ducasse, adjusting the final year of his rookie contract makes sense.
Slauson, scheduled to earn $1.308M, will now make $1.05M fully guaranteed. Renegotiation Aug. 1. Interesting timing w/LG competition.

Rex Ryan indicated that Slauson would likely win the competition with Ducasse because of his experience. That experience is what upped Slauson's salary to $1.308 million, based on his playing time and the Jets making the playoffs in 2010. Slauson was originally set to make $565,000 before the incentives.
