Slowly the AL East Division lead -- which now stands at just 4 1/2 games ahead of the Baltimore Orioles -- is slipping away from the New York Yankees, and after last year's last-season collapse by the Boston Red Sox, the Bronx Bombers know very well what can happen near the end of the season. The Yankees (63-46) will try to right their wayward ship Wednesday, when they face the Detroit Tigers in Game 3 of a four-game series at Comerica Park (7:05 p.m. ET on YES Network).
New York's ace CC Sabathia (11-3) will take the mound and oppose Anibal Sanchez (1-1), who will try to help the Tigers earn a stranglehold on the series, which has featured them winning Monday, 7-2, and Tuesday, 6-5. The series finale will be played Thursday afternoon at 1 p.m.
