The New York Mets will try to avenge their 3-1 loss last night as they take on San Diego Padres Saturday night at Petco Park.
Jeremy Hefner (1-4, 5.52 ERA) will get the start for the Mets tonight as he makes his third start since moving to the starting rotation. Hefner has been a quality arm since moving from the bullpen, and in his last start against the San Fransisco Giants scattered 10 hits and four runs in 5-2/3 innings on July 30.
Edinson Volquez (7-7, 3.51 ERA) will get the call for the Padres, looking to rebound from a shaky start in his last outing against the Cincinnati Reds. Volquez got the win, but gave up six hits and five earned runs in five innings of work. Before that start however, Volquez went six straight starts where he gave up three earned runs or less.
