2012 U.S. Open Scores: Novak Djokovic And Maria Sharapova Advance

The 2012 U.S. Open continued on Friday with some of the heavy favorites advancing at Arthur Ashe Stadium. Men's No. 2 Novak Djokovic moved on with a straight-set victory over Rogerio Dutra Silva of Brazil. The Serbian moves on to face the winner of Julien Benneteau and Dennis Novikov in the third round.

Maria Sharapova followed Djokovic with a quick 6-1, 6-1 victory over American Mallory Burdette. Sharapova advances to a fourth-round match against fellow Russian Nadia Petrova.

The biggest upset of the day so far has come from Laura Robson of Great Britain. The 18-year-old, who won silver at the Olympics playing mixed doubles with Andy Murray, stunned No. 9 Na Li of China in three sets.

Robson gets defending champion Samantha Stosur in the fourth round. The seventh-seeded Stosur began the day's events by defeating No. 31 Varvara Lepchenko of the United States.

Andy Roddick headlines the night session at Arthur Ashe Stadium when he faces Bernard Tomic of Australia at 7 p.m. ET. The 30-year-old announced on Thursday he would retire after the U.S. Open.
