The 2012 U.S. Open begins Monday, Aug. 27 at Flushing Meadows Park in New York City. Roger Federer is the top overall seed on the men's side with Novak Djokovic, Andy Murray, David Ferrer and Jo-Wilfried Tsonga rounding out the first five. Rafael Nadal was forced to withdraw from the tournament with a knee injury that also kept him from competing in the Olympics.
Yonkers, N.Y. native James Blake is unseeded and starts the tournament against Lucas Lacko.
John Isner leads the way for the Americans at the nintth seed. Former champion Andy Roddick is seeded 20th. Mardy Fish and Sam Querrey are 23rd and 27th, respectively.
For the women, Victoria Azarenka is at the top. Notables Maria Sharapova and Serena Williams are the third and fourth seeds.
New Jersey native Christina McHale is the 21st overall seed for the tournament.
