Giants-Bears Final Score: Giants Fall To Chicago, 20-17

The New York Giants lost to the Chicago Bears, 20-17, in an NFL preseason game Friday night at MetLife Stadium. The Giants led, 17-7, at halftime but the Bears scored 13 unanswered points in the second half when both teams were playing reserves.

Head coach Tom Coughlin wanted to see more production from his front-line offense on Friday night. Eli Manning, David Wilson and company delivered.

Wilson, the Giants first-round pick, carried five times for 49 yards. He also caught two passes for 26 yards. On a first-quarter drive that resulted in a field goal Wilson had carries of 15 and 20 yards, and a 29-yard pass reception.

Manning completed 17-of-21 passes for 148 yards and one touchdown, helping stake the Giants to a 17-7 halftime lead. Manning threw an 11-yard touchdown pass to Ramses Barden that gave the Giants a 10-7 second-quarter lead.

A blocked punt by running back Da'Rel Scott set the Giants up at the Chicago 11-yard line. After a pass interference call moved the ball to the one-yard line, Andre Brown scored on a one-yard run.

Victor Cruz had five first-half catches for 28 yards for New York. Barden had three catches for 46 yards.

The Bears rallied in the second half when both teams went to their reserves. A pair of third-quarter field goals by robbie Gould pulled Chicago within 17-13. A 12-yard pass from Jason Campbell to Joe Anderson gave Chicago a 20-17 lead, completing an 11-play, 58-yard drive.

The Giants had a chance to tie or win late in the game, but quarterback David Carr was intercepted in the end zone by Isiaih Frey.

Injury News

Cornerback Prince Amukamara was carted off early in the game. X-rays were negative and Amukamara was diagnosed with a high ankle sprain. Linebacker Mathias Kiwanuka suffered a groin strain.
