Mets Vs. Astros Final Score: New York Falls To Houston, 3-1

The lowly Houston Astros defeated the New York Mets 3-1 in New York on Friday night in the first game of a weekend series.

The Mets got a good start from Jonathon Niese, who went seven innings and gave up three runs. He falls to 10-7 on the year with the loss. The bullpen also did an excellent job holding Houston scoreless the rest of the way, but the team simply had far too little offense. The lone spark came from David Wright on a solo home run, his 17th bomb of the season, and the Mets collected only four hits on the night.

Starting pitcher Jordan Lyles won his third game of the year for the Astros. He's only 3-10 on the season, but pitched a great game on Friday, giving up only one run through six innings.

The Mets will try to get back on track tomorrow.
