The New York Mets will open a three-game set against the Houston Astros on Friday night at Citi Field and when they do, the club hopes to end a five-game losing skid that was extended by a four-game sweep at the hands of the Colorado Rockies.
A key to ending the slide will be if the team's offense can generate some support. In their last six games, the Mets have failed to produce more than two runs in any game.
On Friday night, the club will look to end that drought against one of the league's worst teams (the Astros have given up a combined 47 runs in their last six games).
Here is the projected starting lineup via the club's official twitter account:
1. Ruben Tejada, Short Stop
2. Mike Baxter, Right Field
3. David Wright, Third Base
4. Ike Davis, First Base
5. Justin Turner, Second Base
6. Jordany Valdespin, Left Field
7. Andres Torres, Center Field
8. Josh Thole, Catcher
9. Jon Niese, Starting Pitcher
