Joe Girardi: Yankees Must Fight Through Injuries

The New York Yankees will look to stem a three-game losing streak when they head to Cleveland on Friday to take on the Indians. The Yankees' lead over the Tampa Bay Rays in the AL East has dwindled to three games at a time when the team is at its most vulnerable due to injuries. CC Sabathia will come off the DL this week after resting a sore elbow, and Joba Chamberlain has struggled mightily since coming back to the Majors at the beginning of the month. Despite the adversity, manager Joe Girardi told WFAN in New York that he felt good about his team .

"Well I feel good," Girardi said. "You get concerned about some of the injuries that we're dealing with, but you just gotta fight your way through it. That's all you can do and hopefully we get some of these guys back and we'll have to see what we are going to do."

Girardi also revealed that Ivan Nova was struggling with a shoulder issue that will require some testing. Despite Girardi's confidence, the Yankees clearly have some issues to push through in the rotation. Unfortunately for them, the Rays, winners of six of their last seven, aren't waiting until the Yankees get healthier to make their move up the standings.
