Mets Vs. Rockies Final Score: New York Wastes Collin McHugh's Debut Gem In 1-0 Loss

The New York Mets lost to the Colorado Rockies, 1-0, on Thursday at Citi Field. The Mets dropped all four games in the four-game set.

Collin McHugh got the first start of his career for the Mets and went seven innings, giving up two hits and a walk while striking out nine batters. McHugh's debut was ultimately wasted as the Mets' seven hits and six walks were scattered by a handful of Rockies pitchers. The Mets finished 0-for-10 with runners in scoring position and left 12 men on base.

Bobby Parnell replaced McHugh and gave up three hits and an earned run in the eighth inning. Parnell was charged with the loss. The Rockies pitched by committee for the game. Tyler Chatwood started but only went three innings, giving up no runs, three hits and three walks. Four other pitchers combined to finish the game, giving up four hits and three walks, but no runs. Rex Brothers got the win for Colorado for pitching two scoreless frames in the sixth and seventh innings. Matt Belisle picked up the save for pitching a scoreless ninth.

Chris Nelson plated the only run in the game with an RBI single off of Parnell in the eighth inning. The Mets got a runner on base in the bottom of the ninth when pinch hitter Justin Turner got a single. Andres Torres was a pinch runner for Turner and got to second base on a sacrifice fly, but was stranded there as the game ended.

The Mets (57-68) will begin their next series on Friday against the Houston Astros (39-85) at Citi Field.
