The New York Yankees have activated catcher Austin Romine from the 60-day disabled list, optioning him to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
The 23-year-old Romine, who appeared in nine games for the Yankees in 2011, had been rehabbing through the franchise's minor league system, meaning the transaction to option him back to Triple-A is more of a technicality. Romine missed the first half of the season with a back injury, and his 30-day rehab window had expired.
The Yankees' 40-man roster is full, but you can expect to see Romine tapped as part of the team's September call-ups.
