The New York Giants defeated the New York Jets, 26-3, in dominating fashion Saturday, in a preseason showdown at MetLife Stadium. Overall, the defense put on a solid effort in the win, according to Giants coach Tom Coughlin.
"Some people had a chance to step up tonight and played very well, particularly on the defensive side of the ball with some individual plays that stood out," Coughlin said. "For the second preseason game I was glad to see the improvement, particularly we saw improvement on the defensive side of the ball, but we’ve got a lot of work to do."
The biggest question after the game was the status of running back Ahmad Bradshaw, who hurt but did not break his hand, Coughlin said. The head coach was not sure how the tailback sustained the injury.
"Hopefully they get the swelling down and the soreness out and whatever they do there is not that big an obstruction," Coughlin said. "We’ll see where he is."
What does New York need to improve on?
"I was not pleased with the interception. I was not pleased with the blocked punt. We’re going to have to go back and work on that. We certainly have a lot of work to do and a long way to go."
