Mark Teixeira Injury Update: Wrist Might Cause DL Stint

New York Yankees first baseman Mark Teixeira might to go on the disabled list if his wrist doesn't improve shortly.

Manager Joe Girardi wouldn't dismiss putting Teixeira on the DL if progress isn't made soon, according to ESPN.com. The slugger is out of the lineup again on Saturday against the Boston Red Sox, due to "wrist inflammation."

"He's a little bit better today," Girardi said. "We'll see in the next couple of days if we can get him back."

At this point, Girardi is hoping the injury becomes a non-factor down the stretch, with the Yankees charging toward the postseason.

"I'm a little bit concerned if it's going to get to 100 percent," Girardi said. "He was better after the few days off a couple weeks ago and it seemed to come back a little bit. So that raises a little red flag."

With Teixeira working his way back onto the field, Nick Swisher is manning first base.
