Jeff Demps Signing: New York Jets Miss Out On Olympic Sprinter

According to The Star Ledger's Jenny Vrentas, the New York Jets will not be signing Olympic sprinter Jeff Demps. Instead, Fox 13's Kevin O'Donnell is reporting that Demps will sign with the New England Patriots.

Demps is a former teammate of Tim Tebow's at the University of Florida, where the Olympian was a running back and kick returner. In four seasons, Jeff Demps racked up 2,470 rushing yards and 23 touchdowns, though he elected not to participate in any all-star games or NFL draft workouts during his senior year so that he could fully devote himself to Olympic training.

Demps did not compete in the 4X100 meter relay final in London, but still earned a silver medal for running in the preliminary heat.

The Jets were one of many options for Demps, whose final decision came down to Tampa Bay and New England.
