Women's 800-Meter Final: Russians Take Gold And Bronze, Alysia Montano Finishes 5th

Russia's Mariya Savinova and Ekaterina Poistogova won the gold and bronze medals, respectively, in the women's 800-meter final Saturday at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London. The added to what has already been an impressive day for the country. So far, Team Russia has won 15 medals with several events yet to come.

The United States had one runner in the event. Alysia Johnson Montano of Queens finished in fifth-place, 1.74 seconds off the gold-medal time of 1:56.19. Montano gained recognition during the games for wearing a flower in her hair during races.

South Africa's Caster Semenya took silver, finishing between the two Russians with a time of 1:57.23, over one second behind Savinova.
