The New York Liberty lost to the San Antonio Silver Stars, 94-81, in WNBA action at the Prudential Center in Newark, N.J. Sunday. The Liberty is now 6-10 on the season and the Silver Stars are 11-5. San Antonio has won seven straight games.
Head coach John Whisenant was not happy with the Liberty's defense.
"We didn't have a good outing defensively. We've had a couple of good defensive outings against Seattle and more recently Chicago and we never got control of this one," Whisenant said. "We want to keep them out of the middle and keep them at the three point line with a hand in their face and if they're good enough to make them and beat us from there then so be it and in this particular game they were."
Essence Carson had 25 points for New York. Cappie Pondexter had 23 points and eight rebounds.
The Liberty faces the Indiana Fever Tuesday at Bankers Life Fieldhouse.
