2012 Summer Olympics Medal Count: United States, China Tied Heading Into Tuesday

Unsurprisingly, the United States and China are tied atop the medal count with 17 medals won apiece at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London. Team USA picked up six on Monday, winning gold in the men's 100-meter backstroke and women's 100-meter backstroke thanks to Matt Grevers and Missy Franklin, respectively.

Japan (11), Italy (eight) and France (seven) round out the Top 5. The French added another gold medal to bump their total to three. Yannick Agnel won the 200-meter freestyle in a dominating performance. Ryan Lochte finished a disappointing fourth.
