After winning the hearts of Americans by winning medals in his first two Olympic events, Team USA swimmer Ryan Lochte failed to earn a medal Monday in the men's 200-meter freestyle final. Lochte, a Canandaigua, N.Y., native, finished fourth behind gold-medalist Yannick Agnel (France), silver-medalist Taehwan Park (South Korea) and bronze-medalist Yan Sun (China).
Surprisingly, Lochte was easily defeated by Yannick who finished the race in 1 minutes, 43.14 seconds -- 1.93 seconds ahead of his American counterpart. Park finished with a time of 1:44.93, while Sun posted a 1:44.93.
This was the first time during the Olympics that Lochte (1:45.04) failed to medal in an event.
Lochte will race in seven more events for Team USA. Lochte's complete Olympic schedule and results can be found here.
