Team USA Swimming Preview: New York Area Well Represented In London

Team USA swimming should be very strong once again at the 2012 London Olympics. The New York area has six representatives in the sport.

Swimming figures to once again be one of Team USA's strongest events at the 2012 London Olympic Games. The New York area happens to be very well represented in the sport with six swimmers at the games.

Dana Vollmer (Syracuse, NY)

- 100m butterfly, 800m freestyle relay

- Gold medalist in 4x200m freestyle at 2004 Athen Olympics

Ryan Lochte (Canandaigua, NY)

- 200m backstroke, 200m IM, 400m IM, 200m freestyle, 800m freestyle relay

- Three gold medals, one silver and two bronze at 2004 and 2008 Olympics

Kara Lynn Joyce (Brooklyn, NY)

- 50m freestyle

- Silver medalist in 4x400m freestyle at 2008 Beijing Olympics

Connor Jaeger (Fair Haven, NJ)

- 1500m freestyle

Lia Neal (Brooklyn, NY)

- 400m freestyle relay

- Just the second African-American female Team USA swimmer in history at 17 years old

Cullen Jones (New York, NY)

- 50m freestyle, 100m freestyle, 400m freestyle relay

- Gold medalist in 4x100m freestyle at 2008 Beijing Olympics

July 28: Men's 400m IM final, men's 400m freestyle final, women's 400m IM final, women's 4x100m freestyle final

July 29: Women's 100m butterfly final, men's 100m breaststroke final, women's 400m freestyle final, men's 4x100m freestyle final

Men's 200m freestyle final, women's 100m backstroke final, men's 100m breaststroke final, women's 100m breaststroke final

July 31: Women's 200m freestyle final, men's 200m butterfly final, women's 200m IM final, men's 4x200m freestyle final

Aug. 1: Men's 200m backstroke final, women's 200m butterfly final, men's 100m freestyle final, women's 4x200m freestyle final

Aug. 2: Women's 200m breaststroke final, men's 200m backstroke final, men's 200m IM final, women's 100m freestyle final

Aug. 3: Women's 200m backstroke final, men's 100m butterfly final, women's 800m freestyle final, men's 50m freestyle final
