The fourth round of the 2012 Championships at Wimbledon began Monday. No. 1 Maria Sharapova was upset by No. 15 Sabine Lisicki in straight sets in what was the biggest surprise of the day. Otherwise, the favorites prevailed. No. 1 Novak Djokovic and No. 3 Roger Federer advanced on the men's draw, and No. 6 Serena Williams won in three sets over Yaroslava Shvedova.
While all of the day's matches on the women's draw finished Monday, several men's matches will need to be completed Tuesday after rain suspended play. No. 4 Andy Murray currently leads Marin Cilic 3-1 in the second set after winning the first set, 7-5. American Mardy Fish won his first set over No. 5 Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, 6-4, and is tied 1-1 in the second in what would be another impressive upset win.
