New York Sports Scorecard: A Wild Day Of Signings And Rumors

If you're like me, you need a scorecard to keep track of all the things going on around the regional sports scene today. This is supposed to be a lazy Monday as well get ready for the Fourth of July. It seems, though, like there are already plenty of fireworks going on around here.

Let's try to get you caught up.

NHL

Martin Brodeur is returning to the New Jersey Devils. So is his backup, Johan Hedberg. At this moment, we're not so sure about Zach Parise. The free-agent forward seems to be mulling a choice between the Devils and the Chicago Blackhawks.

The New York Rangers are still trying to acquire Rick Nash, but that does not look like something that will happen soon.

NBA

It's the Summer of Dwight Howard all over again for the now Brooklyn Nets. Howard says the Nets are the "only team" he will sign with long-term. Our Ryan Jones says that's fine, but Brooklyn just wait a year and make Howard to just that. The Nets seem to be making plans to build a team that does not include Howard, though they would certainly love to have him. Finally, the Nets are also still waiting on Deron Williams.

As for the New York Knicks (remember them?), they are trying to find creative ways to entice Steve Nash to come to New York next season.

MLB

R.A. Dickey of the New York Mets tops the SB Nation New York MLB Power Rankings, and the New York Yankees are No. 2 in the MLB.com rankings.

Whew! The only thing missing from the whole day so far? No big Tim Tebow news. How has that happened?
